Land Rover's Electronic Air Suspension (EAS) is one of the most common repair categories we handle for Range Rover and Discovery owners in Dubai. The UAE's temperature extremes, road conditions and how these vehicles are used here all accelerate EAS wear beyond what the manufacturer models for average conditions.

Which Models Are Affected

What Fails First in Dubai

Air Springs (Bags)

The rubber air bags that hold each corner up degrade from heat and UV exposure. In UAE conditions, the rubber compounds in air springs age faster than in cooler climates. Signs of failure: one corner sitting lower than others, the compressor running constantly trying to maintain height, and the suspension warning light. Air spring replacement: 800–2,500 AED per corner depending on OEM vs aftermarket.

The Compressor

The air compressor fills and pressurises the system. It's the hardest-working component. When air springs develop slow leaks, the compressor runs more frequently β€” overheating and burning out. A failed compressor typically produces a grinding sound during height changes or simply stops functioning. Compressor replacement: 1,500–4,000 AED.

Height Sensors

The four corner height sensors tell the ECU where the body sits relative to the axles. Dust, sand and vibration from UAE road surfaces are hard on these sensors. Sensor failure causes incorrect height readings and incorrect levelling. Individual sensor replacement: 400–1,000 AED.

Solenoid Valves and Valve Block

The valve block controls air distribution to each corner. Rubber seals within it degrade from heat and cause slow leaks throughout the system. Rebuild or replacement: 1,000–3,000 AED.

Repair vs Coil Spring Conversion

For older vehicles (L322, L320, Discovery 3/4), a coil spring conversion kit replaces the entire EAS with conventional springs and dampers. Cost: 3,000–7,000 AED all-in. Pros: eliminates ongoing EAS maintenance, simpler and more reliable. Cons: loses ride height adjustability and some off-road capability, potential impact on resale value to buyers who want full OEM.

For L405 and newer vehicles still within their value range, repairing with quality OEM or aftermarket parts is usually the right call β€” conversion makes less sense on a 5-year-old vehicle.
