Car Programming Pricing in Dubai
A basic ECU reset — clearing adaptation values, relearning throttle position, or resetting a module after a repair — typically costs AED 150–250 at FixHive. Full ECU programming or reflashing, needed after fitting a replacement control unit or applying a manufacturer software update, runs AED 300–700 per module depending on brand and complexity.
Key programming pricing depends heavily on the vehicle. Standard transponder keys for mass-market brands (Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai, Kia and similar) run AED 200–450 including coding. Proximity and smart keys for premium brands — BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Land Rover, Porsche — typically cost AED 600–1,500, and an all-keys-lost immobiliser reset sits toward the top of that range since it requires re-securing the entire key system, not just adding one key.
Module coding after a component replacement — a new instrument cluster, headlight unit, seat module or retrofitted feature — is usually AED 200–500 per module. VCDS long coding for VW Group vehicles, enabling or adjusting existing factory features, is billed at our standard diagnostic labour rate, generally completed within AED 150–350.
DPF forced regeneration through diagnostic software costs AED 250–500. If the filter is too heavily blocked for software regeneration alone, we'll advise honestly on cleaning or replacement rather than repeatedly forcing a cycle that won't resolve the underlying issue.

What Dubai Drivers Get Wrong About Car Programming
Franchise dealers have factory tool access, but so do properly equipped independent workshops. VCDS, ISTA and PIWIS are the same platforms dealer technicians use — the difference is who's running them and at what price. UAE consumer protection regulations specifically protect your right to have this work done independently without affecting your warranty.
Consumer-grade code readers can clear basic fault codes, but key programming, immobiliser resets and control module coding require security access, seed-key algorithms and manufacturer-specific procedures that generic tools simply don't have. Attempting these procedures with the wrong equipment can lock a module or, in worst cases, require a dealer visit to recover.
