The daily heat cycle — from cool garage to 45°C outdoor ambient — places repeated thermal stress on the air compressor, air bags and suspension lines. Compressor wear is the most frequent failure; it presents as a vehicle sitting lower than expected, or the compressor running continuously without achieving the correct height. ⚠️ Power Running Board Motor Failure
The Lincoln Navigator's power-retractable running boards — which extend when a door opens and retract when closed — are a known failure point in Dubai. Lincoln Navigator's 3.5L EcoBoost twin-turbo V6 uses direct injection — fuel is injected directly into the cylinder, bypassing the intake valves. Over time, oil vapour from the PCV system deposits carbon on the valve stems and backs, restricting airflow. In Dubai's stop-start traffic and hot conditions, carbon accumulates faster than in cooler, free-flowing driving environments. Symptoms include rough cold-start idle, a slight hesitation on acceleration and occasional misfire codes. Walnut blasting through the intake ports removes deposits effectively without head removal.
⚠️ 10-Speed Transmission Fluid Degradation
Navigator and Aviator models with Ford's 10R80 ten-speed automatic transmission can develop a low-speed shudder or harsh engagement when transmission fluid is degraded. UAE heat accelerates fluid breakdown beyond the factory service interval — the 10R80's fluid is particularly sensitive to condition. An early shudder at light throttle between 40-60 km/h is the warning sign. A correctly specified full fluid drain and refill resolves the shudder in most cases before converter or clutch pack wear develops.
